What We Believe

Mark 1:15 (NIV)

“The time has come,” Jesus said. “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!”

Article #1: Name

This church shall be known as the First Southern Baptist Church of Anderson, presently located at the corner of Church Street and Ferry Street in the city of Anderson, County of Shasta, State of California, United States of America.

Article #2: Objective

To be a dynamic spiritual body empowered by the Holy Spirit to share Christ with as many people as possible in our church, our community and throughout the world. To be a worshiping fellowship, experiencing an awareness of God and responding in obedience to His leadership. To experience an increasingly meaningful fellowship with God and our fellow-believers. To help people gain a growing knowledge of God and man. To be a church of ministers who minister unselfishly to persons in the church, in the community and in the world in Jesus' name. To be a church whose purpose is to be Christ-like in our daily living by emphasizing a total commitment of life, personality and possessions to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

Article #3: Statement of Basic Beliefs

We affirm the Holy Bible as the inspired word of God and the basis for our beliefs. This church subscribes to the doctrinal statement of the Baptist Faith and Message as adopted by the Southern Baptist Convention revised in 2000. We voluntarily join together as a body of baptized believers in Jesus Christ, personally committed to sharing the good news of salvation to a lost mankind. The ordinances of the church are the Believers Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
